Is a city in southern Egypt and the capital of Luxor Governorate.
Luxor was the ancient city of Thebes, the great capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom, and the glorious city of the god Amon- Ra.Thebes was also known as "the city of the 100 gates".

Over 7000 tombs have been discovered on the city's west bank, which is justifiably recognized as a treasury of antiquities. The valley of the Kings with the discovery of King Tut Ankh Amun's rich gold-laden Tomb, the valley of the Queens, the Tombs of the Nobels and Deir El Bahari, the Temple built by Queen Hatshepsut, are just a few of the highlights. On Luxor town's east bank there are Luxor and Karnak temples with an exquisitely designed museum.​
